THE IMAGE OF THE EAGLE IN BAHAETTİN KARAKOÇ'S POEMS

Abstract

While all societies have lived together with nature throughout history, observing the behaviors, lifestyles and characters of animals that are part of the geography they live in, they have attributed symbolic meanings to these beings, associated them with their own beliefs and lives, and attributed holiness to some of them. One of these beings, which is used as a symbol by both Turks and some other nations in the world, is the eagle. The eagle is a creature that has been accepted as a noble creature from the earliest histories to this day in societies living in different geographies and having different civilizations, and has been attributed holiness to it. As an ogan in Turkish culture; The eagle, which has a respected place as the ruler of the skies, the guide, the hunter-protector, and a powerful being, has been used as a symbol of victory, power and dominance in Turkish literature. Bahaettin Karakoç, one of our poets who has a distinguished place in Turkish poetry after 1960, is referred to as the "White Eagle of Turkish Poetry". It is seen that this adjective is used in many of the articles and works that mention him. This article is a study to determine the meanings attributed to this being by Karakoç, who also includes the eagle in his poems. Bahaettin Karakoç; The answer to the question of whether the eagle is used as a mythological image, as a symbol of national-religious concepts, heroism or independence, or to express individual feelings also constitutes the purpose of our article.
