Mehmet Lütfi Gören’s political and social profile is analyzed within the context of his political career, which extended from the mayoralty of Akçakoca to serving as the deputy of Bolu in the 6th and 8th terms of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). As one of the founders of the Akçakoca Association for the Defense of National Rights during the Turkish War of Independence, Gören actively contributed to local resistance efforts and carried this experience into his public service during the Republican era. In addition to his administrative duties in local government, the provincial council, and the permanent executive committee, his service as a deputy of Bolu in two parliamentary terms demonstrates his ability to represent local interests at the national level. His activities as mayor of Akçakoca contributed to local administration, economic development, and social solidarity. Based on documents from the Republic Archives, TBMM records, and local and national newspapers, the findings reveal that Gören was an important provincial actor who combined political representation, local leadership, and economic initiative during Turkey’s modernization process.
