On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, 2025 was declared the Year of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade in Azerbaijan.
In the contemporary Azerbaijani literary and social scene, Bakhtiyar Vahabzade holds a significant place as a nationally esteemed poet, dramatist, professor of literary studies, and influential public figure. The literary legacy of today's most beloved Azerbaijani poet stands out as a rich and distinctive treasure trove of the philosophical poetic movement in Azerbaijani literature. His poems, and verse plays are also noteworthy for their aesthetics of literary language. In this respect, the poet’s works are evaluated as a breath of fresh air, innovative, and innovator in national literature.
Based on these issues, the article discusses the criteria for innovation in the language of Bahtiyar Vahabzade’s poems in the context of the mother tongue principle, semantic elements of the word, the use of idiomatic expressions, the poetry of the colloquial language, new words and sayings.
