Altai Turks living in Southern Siberia are a Turkish community that has valuable works in terms of oral culture products. It is seen that important animal and nature motifs in Turkish mythology take place in tales, which are one of the products of oral culture. The richness of the elements of Turkish mythology draws attention in the tale of “İyt le Börü” (Wolf with a Dog) belonging to the Altai Turks. In this fairy tale, which includes supernatural beings, there are animals such as deer, horse, bird, fox, raven and dog, and natural elements that are considered sacred and are believed to be protective possessors such as trees and water. The striking point in the tale is that the wolf myth, unlike other Turkish narratives, emerges in a negative sense, as in European myths. In this study, the tale of “İyt le Börü” (Wolf with a Dog), which is an Altai oral culture element and evaluated under the title of “Tales about Fighting with Terrible Creatures”, will be examined in the mythological context and how the determined motifs are handled in the literature will be tried to be explained comparatively.
